The National Ice Centre (NIC) sits within the historic Lace Market area of Nottingham. When opened our venue was the first twin Olympic sized ice pad facility in the UK. The NIC was made famous by Olympic legends and Dancing on Ice stars, Torvill & Dean.
As the home of the Nottingham Panthers Ice Hockey team and hosting around 30 games a year, the National Ice Centre is Nottingham’s hub for all things ice skating and ice hockey.
During 2025 we will host Torvill & Deans 50th Anniversary Tour – ‘Our Last Dance’ with their last ever performance together taking place here in July 2025. In recognition of their outstanding achievements and their link to our venue we have renamed our public rink the Torvill &Dean Rink in their honour.
Reporting to the Head of Ice Sports the Ice Sports Coordinator will take a proactive lead in supporting the team across the full spectrum of secretarial, administrative and operational support.
The Ice Sports Coordinator will:
- Act as the first point of contact, dealing with correspondence and phone calls.
- Take a proactive role in managing relationships with internal and external customers.
- Finalising diary dates with National Governing Bodies through proactive negotiation
- Maintaining the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports for Ice Sports, sharing the information on a weekly basis.
- Proactive diary and email management for the Head of Ice Sports.
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with the Ice Sports Team, Clubs and external partners.
- Be a key and active member of the Ice Sports team, assisting with the smooth running of the business. Keeping track of tasks and deadlines for the Head of Ice Sports.
- Arrange meetings, distribute reports and take accurate minutes at a range of meetings.
- Be an additional point of contact for Clubs, NGBs and funding partners making enquiries and seeking to coordinate funding applications.
- Attend a range of meetings both internally and externally as required and actively participate where appropriate.
- Deliver and administer the community and family learning programme from the funding submission, to delivery, administration and reporting.
- Act as Manager on Duty for the business as and when required, and to participate in any relevant training required for this role.
With excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, the Ice Sports Coordinator will have strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage their time effectively.
The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach with the ability to problem solve especially in relation to the Ice Sports Team and our customers.
They will be flexible with the ability to work under pressure, demonstrating complete confidentiality and integrity.
They will have the ability to building strong relationships with customers and key, internal and external, partners. They will also have the proven ability to deal with customer feedback and complaints.
Due to the nature of our business flexibility will be essential as this role will involve working evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
