About Us
Our complex hosts two major venues in one. The Motorpoint Arena Nottingham is the largest entertainment venue in the East Midlands, hosting huge events in music, comedy, family, entertainment and sport from Peter Kay to Kings of Leon, Kylie to the World Ice Hockey Championships, with over 500,000 customers a year.
The National Ice Centre hosts a variety of ice sports for clubs and the public from beginners through to Olympians, with another 250,000 visitors a year.
The Marketing and Communications Team
The Marketing and Communications Team provide support for all areas of the business, ice skating and arena events, to promoting hospitality experiences and shouting about the venue’s latest partnerships; the Team design, set up, communicate, promote and evaluate it all! Workload is varied and the department itself is very busy and fast-paced; no two days are the same, so this role demands an organised, energetic and proactive individual who can communicate effectively, has a positive attitude, and bags of experience managing a diverse workload.
Job Description
To support the Marketing Team in driving marketing strategies for the National Ice Centre and Motorpoint Arena Nottingham. This role will lead on managing relationships with a diverse portfolio of live music, entertainment and sporting event promoters to drive ticket sales, alongside executing Motorpoint Arena Nottingham’s marketing strategy.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assist the Marketing Team in executing the annual marketing plan, aligned with company objectives, ensuring all activities are delivered with precision, on time, and within budget.
2. Collaborate with promoters and internal teams to coordinate and announce all music, entertainment, and sporting events at the venue, providing comprehensive marketing support throughout the pre-sale and on-sale phases.
3. Build and nurture relationships with event promoters, acting as a dedicated account manager to ensure their marketing needs are met. Develop, implement and manage tailored marketing activity and campaigns to promote their events and drive ticket sales.
4. Managing event marketing budgets, work with promoters to sell and optimise advertising opportunities, managing the sale & promotion of advertising space within the venue and across key city locations.
5. Participate in ticket sales meetings, providing updates and contributing ideas to drive ticket sales and maximise revenue. Ensure the wider Marketing Team is informed of key outcomes, enabling them to align digital screen and scoreboard advertising to specific events.
6. Implement email marketing and SMS campaigns; with a focus on targeted campaigns to drive event ticketing revenue.
7. Maintain the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham website ensuring all content is accurate and up to date.
8. Support the Event Marketing Manager with sharing engaging content across the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham’s social media channels, running competitions and updating social media account designs when needed.
9. Oversee all event administration in the lead-up to each event, ensuring marketing spend is confirmed with the Finance Team, photographers are booked and briefed, competition winners are informed, and press ticket requests are managed.
10. In collaboration with the Event Marketing Manager, execute social media coverage during key events including real-time updates and engaging content creation across the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham’s social channels to maximize event exposure and engagement.
11. Brief the Graphic Designer on Motorpoint Arena Nottingham design needs and manage leaflet and poster distribution around the venue.
12. Liaise with external partners and third parties to ensure all events are promoted and support with PR and communications activity when needed.
13. Support with promotional events and activity. This includes liaising with internal teams and external parties to ensure all activity is well organised and effectively implemented.
14. Ensure that departmental marketing plans are regularly updated and that all internal marketing, financial, and operational procedures are adhered to.
15. Undertake all other duties which may be allocated from time to time, to support the department and wider business.

Qualifications
A marketing qualification would be desirable
Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Entertainment, events and/or sports marketing experience is highly desirable
- Familiarity with event promotion, ticketing, and audience engagement is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media, and content creation
- Strong commercial awareness with ability to identify revenue generating opportunities
- An excellent understanding of the full marketing mix
- Experience of developing, managing and evaluating traditional and digital marketing campaigns, ideally for events
- Experience of working under pressure, managing a diverse workload and prioritising work to meet tight deadlines
- Experience of building successful relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent attention to detail, proof reading and copywriting skills
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Event announcements can occur outside office hours, and with most events taking place during evenings and weekends, the ideal candidate will be comfortable working flexibly during peak event periods.
