The National Ice Centre (NIC) based in Nottingham’s Lace Market is a leisure and training facility for many of Great Britain’s young and aspiring skating stars.

It is also used for public skating, skating lessons, training, birthday parties and our award-winning schools ice skating programme.

The NIC was made famous by skating legends Jayne Torvill & Christopher Dean. Jayne and Christopher trained at our old site back in the 1980s and went on to win a gold medal in the Winter Olympics in 1984. The square in front of our venue was named ‘Bolero Square’ to honour their achievements.


Have you got experience as a Team Leader or have you previously worked in Duty Management?


The NIC has 2 exciting new positions that have the customer journey and experience at their heart.

The Ice Sports Team Leaders will act as ‘Manager on Duty’, overseeing and managing the busy Public Skating sessions.  The Ice Sports Team Leader will ensure that our venue is safe, welcoming, and clean for our customers and staff.


Qualified in First Aid and as a Sports Coach, the ideal candidate will also hold a Sports Coach UK Safeguarding & Protecting Children Certificate.  The ideal candidates will have knowledge of ice sports or experience of working within an ice rink, although training will be provided. 


Ice Sports Team Leaders must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of customers.  The ability to upsell (Skate UK skating courses, group/corporate skating packages, birthday parties, skating aids etc) would be an advantage.


With the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, whilst working to tight deadlines our Ice Sports Team Leaders will be required to make sound decisions whilst under pressure.


Each role will work for 24 hours over Friday Evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays.
