The Motorpoint Arena is a vibrant, 10,000 capacity live entertainment venue in the heart of Nottingham hosting world-class shows across music, comedy, family, arts, and sports. From Kylie to Peter Kay, to Disney, to Panthers ice hockey and Forest Netball - no two days are the same.

Our sister venue is the National Ice Centre, where our community comes together for ice sports across figure, synchro and speed skating, plus ice hockey. Whether you're a family enjoying skating for fun, or a budding professional gliding in the footsteps our local heroes Torvill and Dean, we provide the UK's best ice sports experience.

In addition, we are the head office for National Merchandise. National Merchandise manage merchandise concessions for both one-off and multi-date events and merchandise sales at live events across indoor and outdoor events around the UK, Ireland and Sweden.

 

The Role

Our Head of Facilities is responsible for the effective management and day-to-day delivery of all aspects of the Facilities team’s operations.  Supporting the Director of Facilities the Head of Facilities will ensure that all areas, including maintenance, engineering, cleaning, event setup, health & safety delivery and sustainability are operating to the highest standards.

 

As direct line manager for our team of Facilities Managers, the Head of Facilities will ensure that the operational team delivers a safe, efficient and customer-focus environment, bridging strategic and frontline delivery, ensuring the implementation of processes, compliance and performance standards are in line with our business objectives and vision.

 

The Head of Facilities requires a regular on-site presence with occasional off-site visits to our National Merchandise sites (across the UK and Ireland).  The role will include working nights, weekends and bank holidays.  In addition, the Head of Facilities will offer offsite ‘out of hours’ support as a keyholder when necessary.

 

Our environment involves occasional exposure to loud noise, varied temperatures and physically demanding work such as walking large areas or overseeing infrastructure in mechanical spaces.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership & Operational deliver – overseeing the operational delivery of cleaning, event conversation, asset management and maintenance of all building systems.  Ensuring that the venue is fully operational, clean, safe and compliant with regulations at all times.

 

Facilities Management – ensuring the operational readiness of all building systems and implementing, monitoring and improving planned preventative maintenance.

 

Compliance and Health & Safety – ensuring we comply with all relevant statutory and organisational safety regulations by conducting regular inspections whilst ensuring accurate records are maintained.

 

People Management – providing strong leadership to the Facilities Managers and their frontline teams.  Providing mentoring, training and performance management.  Promoting a culture of safety, professionalism, high performance and continuous improvement.  Encouraging a high performing work environment whilst supporting the team to be their best.

 

Venue & Event – working with the Facilities Managers to ensure the venue is set up safely, supervising team delivery of event support before, during and after events and ensuring an excellent visitor experience.

 

Sustainability & Efficiency – working with the Director of Facilities to plan and implement sustainability goals and improve operational efficiency, identifying areas for energy and cost savings and leading continuous improvement initiatives in day-to-day operations.

 

Contractor Management – supervising external contractors and ensuring their work is completed safely, on time and in line with our high standards.

 

Skills & Experience

The Head of Facilities must have an IOSH Managing Safely qualification. Ideally, they will also hold qualifications in NEBOSH (General), NEBOSH (Certificate in Fire Safety), First Aid, IPAF, Certified Ice Technician (CIT), a practical trade qualification, Sustainability qualifications (BIS ISO 14001 or ISO 50001, OTHM Level 7 Diploma (or equivalent).

 

With previous experience of building operations, including maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, cleaning, fire/life safety and energy systems they will also have significant experience of facilities operations.

 

They will have a strong knowledge of compliance, maintenance and safety systems plus experience of supporting capital projects delivery.

 

With venue or public assembly facility experience they will also be a proven people manager with strong leadership and organisational skills.  They will be an effective communicator across all levels of the business with the ability to manage multiple priorities to tight deadlines.

 

Flexibility is key, due to the needs of our venue the role may involve working early mornings, late nights, weekends and bank holidays.
